What do you actually do to boost your wireless speed? You look for two enhancements– distance and speed. Isn’t it? You really enjoy working on your wireless network when the speed is fast. However, if you get great speed only when you have a wireless client right next to your router and receive no signal only to stay 15 feet away, then the speed has nothing to do with your network. All you need to do is to boost the range of your router signal. At the same time, if your PC cannot open the Facebook pictures of your friend while you are in the room just as your wireless network device, then you do have a problem with speed.

In general, speed and signal together can hinder with your performance. Therefore, you want both your speed and signal to be as strong as possible. There includes some factors that put impacts on both aspects of performance.
Factors affecting the performance
Internet performance can be poor due to the distance. You have a room in your home or office that is far from your wireless Internet device. Simultaneously, the structure of your home or office can be a hindrance to the performance. On the other hand, if the ranges have to bounce around too many corners to get to your wireless device, you can have a problem with performance.
Interference from various signals: If your router signal has interferences, it can lead to your device to have a problem with performance as well. If you live in an apartment, your home might be over flooded with signals from the routers of various users. You can refer to this article to reduce wireless network interference.
Structural Interference: The structural interference can be another reason for your router to not get the proper signal. If your washing machine, furnace, and refrigerator come the way between your PC and your router, there can be a problem with the performances.
Software Interference: Internet wireless devices need software to function just like everything else. Sometimes, routers ship firmware to the device which gets improved with a later released software update. This could be a reason that causes problems to the signal.
You can only find out just a few of the possible reasons for your signal to go wrong. But, there are several ways to improve your wireless signal and most of them involve adding a few reasonable components and a bit of tuning to your wireless network.
Let us find out a few of the fixes to improve your network connectivity.
Opt for devices from a single vendor
When you need to buy the devices for your routers, many vendors will demand that their product will work with other vendors’ product. Well, this is sometimes not true. If you buy products from the same vendor, it will work better for your router.
For instance, Belkin adapters work better with Belkin router; Cisco adapter works better with Cisco routers. If it is possible, limit your devices to a single vendor. It does not mean that it has to be only adapters but it can be anything such as repeaters, access points and antennas.
Switch the channel
Well, it may sound like you have to change the channel on your TV. But, it is not. Switch the channel of your router’s.
Wireless routers run on certain channels. The moment a typical router is set up, it chooses a specific channel by default. WiFi routers generally chooses the channel that is the least crowded. If your wireless devices may not have the least-crowded channel, you can find out one to boost its performance as well as signal’s.
There is a free tool such as an inSSIDer. When you run this tool, you will see excess information and graphs. Do not be put off by this. All you need to do is to focus on the “Channel”column. Check how many routers in your locality are on the same number. For instance, if all the routers are on channel 6, and if your device is also on the similar number, try to shift it to the least-crowded number like 1 or 4.
If you go into the interface of the software, you can change the channel. There are different ways for wireless devices to access the interface.

Modify WiFi router firmware
Most home users overlook to update router firmware. Networking devices in business show some kind of notification when newer software is available for download. Here you need to know that older devices do not offer this type of opportunities. Therefore, it is essential to update your firmware. You can find out a section in the interface of the router to do this. Well, sometimes you may need to go to the manufacturer’s website to look for the firmware. Once you find it, upload it.
You will get a notification that helps you know which firmware to fix. This fix aims at improving connectivity issues.
