YouTube is one of the most popular websites in the world, used by millions of people every day. If you are a regular user, could you perhaps be getting more out of it than you are at the moment? Here are some tips that you may not have known that could help you to improve your experience on the world’s biggest video sharing website.
1. Change Video Size
When you watch a video, you can choose to watch it in three different sizes: small, medium and full screen. The ‘Full screen’ option is located in the bottom right of the video, and next to it you will find the ‘Large player’ option for the medium size. This allows you to easily choose whichever size is most suitable for each video.
2. Change Video Resolution
You can also change the resolution of the videos you watch. You’ll find this in the ‘Settings’ option right next to the screen size option at the bottom of the video. This will allow you to choose from a number of resolutions up to full HD, which is ideal if you are watching on a larger screen.
3. Watch in TV Mode
We’re all familiar with the YouTube website, but if you want to try something a bit different, go to the TV mode. This was created by the website to improve the experience of watching YouTube videos on a TV screen, but you can still enjoy it on your computer. You can search, browse for videos by category and enjoy the sleeker feel, so it is worth trying out to see if you prefer it.
4. Use Advanced Search Features
YouTube provides a number of advanced search options to help you track down the video you are looking for. Simply perform a standard search, then click on the ‘Filters’ tab just below the search box. You’ll be able to filter videos by length, type, date, quality and much more, so try it out to find the exact videos you want with ease.
5. Watch Later
If you don’t have time to watch a video, simply click on the little clock icon below the video to add it to your ‘Watch Later’ list. It will then be saved to your account, and you can access the list of videos via the ‘Video Manager’ menu, which you can find by clicking on your username.
6. Make it More Social
YouTube is a community, and you will get more out of it by being social. If you like to post updates to your social media accounts about your YouTube activity, why not link it up to your accounts? That way, when you post a new video or a comment, this will automatically be posted to your social media accounts to make the whole process easier.

7. Watch Offline
Sometimes you may want to watch a video when you do not have access to the internet. For example, if a family member or friend uploads a home movie to YouTube that you cannot watch in the moment, you may want to download it so that you can watch it later. You will need some third-party software like YTD to do this, so try it out. Make sure you respect IP when using downloads.
8. Use Your History
YouTube keeps a handy list of your recently viewed videos, which is great for when you want to watch a video that you recently watched without having t search for it. You can manage your history from the ‘Video Manager’ option, from where you can also delete videos stored in the history.
Make More of YouTube
If you love using YouTube, make more of your experience by using the tips above. This amazing website just keeps on getting better, so keep the above tips in mind and improve your experience on YouTube today.

Might never know who’d in need of such simplistic basic guides.
Have a great day ahead.
Great tips, Peter. These are some basic tips, but I’m sure they will be useful for the people who just started watching videos on YouTube. Quite helpful, thanks for sharing.
Hey Peter,
I have had my YouTube account since 2006, and most likely I had been visiting it before that. I forget how long it has been around, but a while.
Funny thing is I never heard of TV Mode until now. I did check it out and run one of my videos in TV Mode. It was a little different, but interesting. I’ll have to try a few more over there in my spare time.
YouTube’s TV mode hasn’t been promoted a lot, probably because viewers are too used to the normal interface. That being said, you’d probably enjoy this slick feature if you’re a screen lover; it’s like having internet cable TV, without having to pay additional cable costs.
